Switching back and forth between tripod plates and custom camera straps, and then to a different tripod plate (it happens…) is truly a pain. So our eyes and ears perked up when we caught wind of the M-Plate from Custom SLR. You may know Custom SLR from their nifty C-Loop strap lug and their Split Strap camera strap, but now they’ve “kicked” off possibly their coolest item yet, and they’re doing it with the help of Kickstarter. Right now they’re taking pre-orders on their new M-Plate at Kickstarter, for just $50, but be warned…orders aren’t expected to ship till December since Custom SLR is using Kickstarter to raise funds to manufacture the very cool M-Plate. Ok…so what is the M-Plate?

The M-Plate is a camera tripod plate system with universal mounting compatibility, integrated Manfrotto RC2  / Arca-Swiss connections, and modular attachment points.

Features of the M-Plate:

• World’s first tripod plate to integrate both Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-Swiss mounts. Also compatible with other tripod plate systems.

• Quick-attach to any tripod while using your favorite camera strap systems such as our own C-Loop. Also compatible with BlackRapid, SunSniper, Spider Holster and others.

• Hand Grip Friendly. Adds hand grip function to cameras that lack the mounting point.

• The built-in M-Link port will connect with future photo and video attachments, including flash brackets and video rigs that are currently in development.

A plate that hooks up to multiple tripod connections, allows for a sling strap connection, and allows future integration into possible camera rigs, flash mounts, and hand straps? Yes, that sounds very, very cool!
